Indepth Review of Ford Maverick 2025

Now Ford’s getting back into the Maverick truck for 2022, and helping bring one of these classes back from the dead. Mixing the best attributes of hatchback crossovers with pickup trucks, all in an utterly tiny package? We’re so excited to have Brad Deery Ford show this all-new vehicle to our community.

A new Tremor off-road package enhances the Maverick’s off-road capabilities with upgraded suspension and trail control systems, while the sporty appearance of the Lob with a special Ranger Blue paint option.

Exterior

You might not think Ford’s little pickup would be so successful, given how pundits treated its introduction and how it sells even now: compact and easy-to-drive, its simple engine gives beginners good power while its tough frame can handle lifting, hauling and towing. The grinning front end and aluminium alloy wheels exude class. The 2025 Maverick will have even more fuel-efficiency, thanks to a hybrid powertrain, and more off-roading capability, thanks to Tremor trim levels.

Ford pretty much upgraded the exterior design of its new Maverick with an updated front grille and headlights, especially added on LED projector lights on trim levels higher while they upgraded the Sync 4 13.2-inch touchscreen display and added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard options.

Multiple cargo configurations (provided by the FLEXBED cargo box) and options (110V, 400W power outlets) help to secure and sort gear. There are two trim packages. The Ford-Ranger Lobo adds street-appeal looks and drive modes for better performance. The Ford-Ranger Tremor gives a rougher appearance, lower ride height, bespoke suspension, and Trail Controls to make off-roading as easy as possible.

Interior

This poised-handling, quick-steering pickup has sparked something in younger buyers, perhaps because of its personality much like a good dog, and its borderline status, halfway between a passenger car and a pickup. It’s a smidgen more truck than the Subaru, with a 4.5-foot bed that can hold a bit of cargo or an awesomely long mattress.

The leather-lined cabin feels luxurious, and the Flexbed – a moveable insert with protruding pre-formed slots and provisions for latches, dividers, 2x4s and panels that help drivers organise or secure cargo – is made to order. The truck also comes with some 3D-printable custom parts like charging cord wraps, console dividers and cup holders that are meant to make driving easier and safer.

Ford’s audacious bet, in introducing the slightly upsized Maverick in 2022, paid off because the company’s compact pickup has enjoyed brisk sales since its debut; for its 2025 edition, its hybrid drivetrain will optionally have all-wheel-drive added; so far rated up to 33 mpg with that system; turbo four, front wheel drive models are also available.

Technology

Sure, it looks like an eyebrow-raising small pickup on the outside, but check out some of the tech and sophisticated new features hidden under the hood – including a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen that’s 5.2 inches larger than previous iterations, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and FordPass Connect with advanced voice activation.

It’s easier to traverse tricky terrain and bad weather with AWD, and maximum payload3 increases to 1,500 lb. Other 2025 upgrades include a larger cargo area in the rear and an updated trailer hitch assist system to make it easier to direct trailer hitches towards truck hitches.

And that’s equally as commendable since safety is paramount and the Maverick is one of the only value-priced compact trucks to offer Ford Co-Pilot360 tech as an option suite. Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking is standard, and the Lariat and Tremor trims add Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering to its suite of advanced driver assistance features.

Safety

It also features many standard and optional advanced safety features and functions that could help drivers feel more confident on the road. Among them are the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist features, which includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane-Keeping Aid. Lariat and Tremor trims up the ante with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go lane-centre and Speed Sign Recognition.

Today’s 2025 Maverick is also offered with hybrid all-wheel drive in its XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels for enhanced off-road capability. In addition, both turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains can be optioned with trailer towing packages to elevate max towing capacity to 4000lbs.

The 2025 Ford Maverick faces the market with updated and improved exterior, interior, performance, technology and safety features. Commutes of Dubuque or errands in Clinton, this compact pickup truck has what you need and more.
