All New 2025 GMC Sierra EV

The 2025 GMC Sierra EV is an innovative all-electric pickup that boasts an EPA estimated range of 390 miles in its flagship Denali version, along with 760 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque.

Standard features of the Sierra EV include a massive infotainment touchscreen display, air ride adaptive suspension and GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driver assist system with semi-automatic lane changes. Furthermore, its Extended or Max Range battery packs can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

Design

GMC has engineered its Sierra EV to not only look like a truck but also feel luxurious inside. Not only does the interior outshone Chevy’s Silverado EV RST but the entire cabin feels more opulent when fitted with Denali trim.

GM’s latest battery platform equips the Sierra EV with next-gen propulsion technology to offer unsurpassed range, exhilarating power and Professional-Grade capability. It boasts an 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds and maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.

The Sierra EV will have an estimated driving range of up to 440 miles and can charge to 80% in just 10 minutes with 350-kW DC fast charging. Available in two trim levels – the AT4 and Denali Edition 1 – both will come equipped with Super Cruise technology allowing drivers to travel hands-free over over 200,000 miles of compatible highways.

Performance

GMC’s Sierra EV excels at hauling stuff, with ample space and utility most buyers expect from full-size pickups. Its 5-foot-11-inch bed can be expanded up to 10 feet by lowering its MultiFlex midgate (which doubles as steps) and flipping up its rear retainer.

The truck’s air suspension easily adapts to variable road conditions and feels confident at high speeds; you may even forget it is electric!

The Sierra EV’s two motors enable it to tow up to 10,500 pounds, and its Extended Range battery provides an EPA range of 390 miles; its Denali and Max Range versions provide up to 460 miles respectively. Furthermore, its preprogrammed driving modes of Normal, Eco, Max Power Tow/Haul My Mode allow drivers to customize the vehicle according to any task at hand; in addition GM’s cargo management app with four cameras can help keep an eye on payload levels.

Technology

The Sierra EV offers two battery pack sizes, with our Max Range tester coming equipped with the larger one that has an estimated driving range of up to 460 miles EPA estimate. I made several trips on narrow Silicon Valley roads to test out its capacity as well as GMC’s Crab Walk feature and midgate function (it expands into the cabin to accommodate longer items).

The Sierra’s drivetrain is quiet and responsive for its size, though the truck feels loose due to a standard air suspension system. Although multiple drive modes allow drivers to alter steering weight and ride stiffness settings, even its stiffest setting cannot reduce its floaty nature.

All Sierra EV versions come standard with a three-year subscription to Super Cruise from GM’s hands-free highway driving-assistance system that automatically changes lanes, handles trailering and can automatically switch lanes. Furthermore, wireless charging capabilities, an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen interface and active safety technologies are all EV specific features that add an additional level of convenience and safety features are provided as standard features.

Safety

GMC’s 2025 Sierra EV Denali is the priciest of its lineup and can set you back around $100K. This luxurious vehicle comes equipped with premium safety features like Super Cruise – General Motor’s hands-free autonomous driving technology capable of steering and accelerating on predetermined roads without driver input.

Straight-ahead driving in the Sierra EV feels luxuriously refined and relaxing, thanks to Bose stereo’s basic sound cancellation logic, extra noise padding beneath vehicle, and acoustic side glass. A quick-reacting air suspension delivers an enjoyable ride while rear wheel steering helps mask curb weight issues; but before trying to maximize its 460 mile EPA range this mode requires finding plenty of pavement space first.
